Doctors Academy Program Admissions

Students who come from culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse communities, as well as those who would become first in their family to attend college, are highly encouraged to apply.

This program is open to all current 8th grade students within 
Fresno County who meet the eligibility requirements.

For students who are applying outside of the Caruthers Unified School District boundaries, you will need to complete an out of district transfer once accepted to the program. The only exception would be students applying from Alvina, Monroe, and Raisin City School Districts, as they are considered feeders to Caruthers High School. Transportation is only provided for students who live within the Caruthers USD boundaries.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Student must be currently enrolled in 8th grade within a Fresno County school district
  • Students must have an interest in becoming a health professional (doctor, nurse, pharmacist, etc)
  • Student must have an interest in learning about the importance of serving the Central Valley of California
  • Student must have an interest in learning about culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse communities
  • Student must earn a minimum 2.8 GPA or above through middle school
  • Student must possess a commitment to maintain a 3.0 GPA or above throughout high school, while enrolled in college preparation coursework

This program is open to all current 8th grade students within the 
Fresno Unified School District who meet the eligibility requirements.

Applications from students not currently attending a school site within Fresno Unified School District, will not be considered. Transportation is only provided within the regular Sunnyside High School bus routes, as determined by Fresno Unified School District. 

Important: Fresno Unified School District requires THIS FORM to be submitted to the transfer office by 12/01/2021, regardless of home/feeder school. More information can be found on the Fresno USD Transfer Office website. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the transfer form was recevied by the district transfer office by the district's deadline. This form is separate from the program application.
