JDA Math and Science Summer Experience
UCSF Fresno Junior Doctors Academy (JDA) held their annual JDA Math and Science Summer Experience for Caruthers Unified from June 14 to June 24, 2021. Caruthers Elementary hosted 18 rising eighth grade students on campus for fun, hands-on learning. Students enjoyed team building activities, properties of physics through water bottle rocket design, Newton's Laws of Motion and anatomy through lectures and a fetal pig dissection. The JDA program partnered this year with UCSF Fresno Surgery Department and UCSF SJV PRIME to design lectures on multiple body systems and assist in the dissection.
JDA teacher, Spring Bibian along with Stephanie Huerta Alvarez, UCSF Fresno Program Coordinator, and four current Doctors Academy students, helped to organize and lead the two-week program.
Thank you to Dr. Kamell Eckroth Bernard, Dr. Jose Covarrubias and SJV PRIME MS-2 students, Inderpreet Bal, Dariush Bazyani, Kiranjot Kaur, Kyle Shen, Samuel Vydro for their work and dedication to giving back to aspiring future health professionals.
