Interview Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the interview like?

Applicants will be interviewed by a team of two people. One interviewer is from the school site and the other interviewer is from UCSF Fresno.

All applicants check in and then will be directed to the individual interview room. If group interviews are required, applicants will be directed accordingly, to the location.

What questions will I be asked?

All interview questions are the same for every applicant. Interviews will open with an icebreaker (not scored) and are followed by a series of questions to allow the interviewers to learn more about you. Applicants will be scored based on their responses. Be prepared to discuss your academic achievements and your desire to be in the program.

What should I wear?

Applicants should have a neat and clean appearance. Professional dress is encouraged but not a requirement. No additional points are awarded for appearance.

Masks may be enforced based on district mandates and must be worn properly (fully covering your nose and mouth) while on campus and in interviews.

How long will my interview be?

All students should check into the waiting room 5-10 minutes prior to their scheduled time. The individual interview will be 15-20 minutes.

Sunnyside High School applicants will also need to participate in a group interview. The group interview is 20 minutes. Please allow up to an hour for the entire interview process.

Can my parents attend my interview?

No. Due to interview space, we kindly ask parents to wait outside, in their car or in accordance with school site guidelines, until their student is finished.

When will I know if I have been accepted into the program?

After interviews are concluded, all components of the application are reviewed together and evaluated by a selection committee. Notifications of conditional acceptance are sent in 4-5 weeks from the date of the interview.

What if I have an Active COVID Case and I am in mandated quarantine when interviews occur?

Our contact information is on the emails that go out with date and time of interview. Please notifiy us immediately if you have tested positive for COVID. Validation may be required.

Can I reschedule my interview?

No. Interview dates and times are assigned due to the limited availability of interviewers and the many number of interviews. If you have any questions, please contact us.
